Join NowTotal Victory provides foster care, supportive long-term housing, child care references, life-skills training, and academic support to youth and young mothers seeking to create a better life for their families. We exist to empower, motivate and encourage youth and young mothers to complete high school, pursue higher education or trade and obtain gainful employment while living in a supportive residential setting.
Total Victory will surround youth and young parents with love, guidance, and hope for the future through the provision of spiritual, physical, emotional, and economic empowerment.
Youth who live in extreme poverty experience a lack of equity and opportunity, and most of the services available lack the intensity and duration needed to change their life trajectories. Our residential‐based service model addresses the needs of this most vulnerable population, empowering them to move beyond their circumstances to become healthy, contributing citizens.
The child welfare system. We have had success serving youth and young mothers that had the potential of entering the foster care system. Historically, 80% of the young parents served by Total Victory graduate from High School without subsequent pregnancies. These youth who graduate from our program achieve our long‐term outcomes at the same rate as their high school peers.
The education system. Our track record of closing the achievement gap, particularly for young parents, creates an opportunity for education officials to invest outside the classroom and improve attendance, social‐emotional learning, and overall school success ‐ culminating in high school completion.
Programs specifically designed to address the intergenerational outcomes. We are impacting welfare dependence, College drop‐out, subsequent pregnancies, and delinquency prevention programs.
Total Victory is committed to young families facing the toughest challenges and has a desire to partner and an ability to secure anchor philanthropy.
Total Victory provides services that are geared towards encouraging the development of long-term self-sufficiency rather than towards meeting the short-term, crisis-orientated needs of young parents and their children.
Helping youth and young mothers to achieve long-term goals, overcome problems such as rapid-repeat childbearing, long-term welfare dependency, educational deficiency, poor health issues, and reports of child abuse and neglect should be diminished. In addition, participants will be prepared for and enter employment specific to their targeted career paths, thereby achieving their personal dreams and hopes despite the challenges of parenthood experiences.
We are unique in that our program offers long-term housing solutions for youth and young parents who are actively enrolled in high school, colleges or training programs. We will support youth and young mothers with housing for 3-5 years, until they age out of foster care, or complete their degree or training program. Once complete, graduates would have entered the workforce on a full-time basis and moved into permanent housing.
While there are many programs for high‐risk youth and young single-parent households, there are very few programs that offer long‐term housing, individualized support, and comprehensive services for this vulnerable population. Of these, there are even fewer programs that deliver outcomes that break the cycle of poverty.
With its long‐term, support‐based approach, Total Victory is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of youth and single-parent families who have encountered multiple barriers to success.
Jalessa was an outstanding student at Lamar County Comprehensive High School. She was involved in many extracurricular activities including JROTC, Drama Club, Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball. Her teachers and coaches loved her dearly and spoke very highly of her.
After High School, she had planned to attend The University of North Georgia. Jalessa’s plans changed when she found out that she was pregnant the summer before her senior year in high school. While pregnant, Jalessa still aspired to be the best student that she could be and remained to participate in non-physical club activities.
Although her plans changed, she was still motivated to attend college. Jalessa gave birth to a healthy baby girl on February 15, 2013. Jalessa was self-motivated and determined to graduate High School and go to college. While managing life with her newborn daughter, Jalessa maintained her school life. Because of her dedication and determination Jalessa graduate High School on June 14, 2013.
During a recent interview, Jalessa was asked how she felt at the time with so many obligations at a young age. She stated, “It was quite overwhelming, but I had an amazing support system. My fiancé, who was also my child’s father did his part as a parent and boyfriend, so it made everything possible. Mrs. Crystal Toombs and Ms. Gloria provided a loving and supportive environment for teen mothers through their organization. It was frowned upon to be pregnant in high school, but the support given through Total Victory gave it a different perspective. Many people believe that it is impossible for a teen mother to graduate high school, but the tools and guidance through Total Victory helped make it believable and achievable”.
After marrying her High School sweetheart, Jalessa became a military spouse. Her husband, Jermaine Caslin, enlisted in the United States Army. Upon moving to their first duty station, Jalessa soon after had their second child. She gave birth to a handsome, healthy baby boy on August 25, 2015. Soon after giving birth to her son, she registered for college. She has completed her Associate of the Arts Degree in Psychology from Pierce College on May 12, 2017. My short-term goal is to be a stay-at-home mom and supportive military spouse”. Jalessa plans to return to school one day to become a Child Psychologist.
Can you imagine being 15 years old, pregnant, and homeless? That was me, Lateace Lee, over 15 years ago. We became homeless after my mom decided to leave her boyfriend after three years of sexual and physical abuse toward my mom, my sister, and myself.
At that time, we had left behind what I thought was our entire problem until I realized that he was not the whole problem just a major piece of it. After leaving my mom’s boyfriend, I discovered that my mom had a very bad drug problem, which caused us to be homeless for a longer period. She would smoke and drink up all the money. This went on for what seemed like an eternity however it was only 6 months or so.
Thanks to Total Victory we were able to begin to live life in a whole new way. This change helped me to finish High School. I was the first person in my immediate family to graduate from High school and start College. In my junior year of high school, I decided that I wanted to become a social worker to help individuals and families overcome struggles and barriers that may try to prevent them from succeeding in life.
After graduating from Kent Roosevelt High School, with my daughter in tow, I attended Kent State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a Concentration in case Management. Afterward, I completed my master’s at Case Western Reserve and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Currently, I work with individuals who struggle with addiction and substance abuse.

Join NowTragedy has become commonplace for an overwhelmingly large number of today’s inner-city youths Drugs, violence, adolescent and teen pregnancy, and a host of other maladies devastate our youth to the point of dysfunction. If this devastation is left unchecked, it possesses the potential of robbing our young and the families of their vision, determination, and hope for a brighter future.
For this reason, Prodigal Sons and Daughters Ministries, Inc. (PS&D) was born. Our mission is to motivate children and young adults to move on from their past tragedy, move up to their talented potential, and move over into a triumphant future. Our motto is “It’s Better to Build a Child than to Repair an Adult.”
Conceptualized in 1995, this faith-based organization has provided services to the community and faith-based organizations, community and family centers, and public schools. This organization has implemented programs in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Atlanta, Georgia, to help youth and their families positively channel their anger, losses, and everyday challenges primarily through three major components:
The organization’s programs included (but are not limited to): Total Victory Life Skills Program, Total Victory Mentoring Program, The “I’m Still Here “Grief Assistance Program, and Conflict Managers Series, Development Center.
If you’re tired of worn-out humdrum programming for youth and their families, then PS&D is what you’re looking for. The programs are unique, innovative, and cutting-edge.

TOTAL VICTORY LIFE SKILLS SERIES
The Total Victory Life skills Series is designed to develop self-esteem, planning skills, capacity for responsibility, and the ability to self-motivate within the youth and teen parents. In addition, participants will gain parenting skills and be empowered to recognize and meet their own needs and those of their children. Group activities and workshops will be used to strengthen and foster an environment of achievement and growth. The style of service delivery is conducive to social learning, building self-esteem, and continuing motivation towards the program and desired goals.
The series will utilize the developmental stages of the caterpillar to serve as a guideline for the training curriculum. The Egg Stage will focus on the growth and development of individual progress. The Caterpillar Stage will focus on family relationships and interaction. The Chrysalis Stage will focus on spiritual growth and development. Participants will be challenged to develop a personal vision profile. This will include information about their perceived purpose and destiny. The Butterfly Stage will focus on developing job readiness skills while fulfilling their internship or community service assignment. And the I Believe I Can Fly Stage will focus on workforce development and retention. This program is designed to operate within 1 to 15 weekly sessions.
TOTAL VICTORY MENTORING PROGRAM
What happens in the family today will affect them tomorrow. Successful living can only be achieved through successful leading. The Total Victory Mentoring Program is devoted to helping youth achieve leadership through employment and education.
In the Total Victory Mentoring program, we strategically pair mentees with mentors in a one-year cycle of face-to-face sessions, quarterly fellowships, and professional workshops. Comprehensive action plans are designed to help each mentee achieve a healthy family unit, educational goals, employment and long-term career achievements, and overall success.
This program is unique in that its services and interaction with the family are geared toward encouraging the development of inter-dependence rather than meeting crisis-oriented needs. Each participant is paired up with a volunteer mentor, someone who has completed a volunteer training program and agreed to have a minimum of five hours of monthly contact with them. The mentor provides more individualized attention and support to the youth, which often cannot be obtained within group settings.
This program seeks to break the cycle of poverty and economic dependency, then enable the youth to be more productive in life.
The Total Victory Mentoring Program offers comfort, acceptance, sharing, and support, the elements necessary to motivate youth to achieve leadership now and for tomorrow.
I’M STILL HERE GRIEF ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Grief is a complicated process that not many truly understand. It occurs in stages, is accompanied by numerous emotions, and affects more than just those who have experienced loss because of death. Children, and adults impacted by loss of any nature, need assistance in working through the stages of the grieving process. It is for this reason that we have developed the Grief Assistance Program.
The “I’m Still Here” Grief Assistance Program offers activities designed to lift the spirits of those children and their families impacted by loss; not only through violent crime but through other societal maladies such as separation, divorce, sickness, disease, and death. Often, if left unattended, negative feelings and coping behaviors associated with loss can lead to behavioral problems in home or school, emotional deterioration, and academic decline.
This program will serve as a powerful resource, which will help to bring about healing and restoration in the lives of these children and their families. In addition, the program will provide information, and if needed, referral to counseling services to further aid survivors during their recovery process.
CONFLICT MANAGERS SERIES: Flip The Script
The purpose of this program is to teach young people and their families to understand conflict and develop effective ways to deal with conflict when it occurs.
The students will be called Conflict Managers. They will be trained to act as managers on the playground, in the classroom, for other students who have disputes, and in their everyday lives. The basic program includes these major teaching topics: The Conflict Manager Program, Cultural diversity, and Conflict, Communication skills, Feeling, Mediation Techniques, Dealing with Difficult Situations, and Being Your Own Mediator.
The program will have two trainers. It is divided into six sessions. The basic training consists of the first five sessions. The remaining one is the follow-up session. The program will be presented within a three-week period. The last session will be presented 4-6 weeks later. This will give the students an opportunity to practice the techniques in “real life.”
The goal of the Conflict Manager training program is to teach young people that “slugging it out” or running to adults for “the answer” may not be the best way to deal with conflict. The philosophy of this program is that young people themselves can take responsibility for resolving their problems.
